Kerry Bickford has been a passionate grandparent/caregiver advocate for the Cape Cod Neighborhood Support Coalition since 2007. She served ten years on the MA Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (2009-2019) while raising two grandchildren, now in college, and working full-time at UMASS/Barnstable County as a Youth Educator (she retired in 2019).
In 2020, Kerry became the founding editor of SADOD VOICES after losing her son, Nathan, to a substance-related death (2018) and becoming involved with SADOD. In July of 2022, she transitioned to her current role as a grandparent peer grief specialist while remaining involved in and committed to VOICES.
Currently, Kerry facilitates a monthly grandparent support group at the Cape Cod Family Resource Center and two monthly grandparent grief support groups for The Sun Will Rise Foundation. She and her husband, Rick, co-facilitate Nathan's Circle, a peer grief support group for adults who have lost a loved one to overdose, dedicated to the memory of their son, Nathan.
